A prime slice of London’s Bayswater has changed hands for around £50mn, PrimeResi can reveal.
A Grade II listed building on Porchester Gardens, right next to The Whiteley, has been sold by its private European owners to an unnamed super-prime developer.
The landmark deal – brokered by Knightsbridge-based agency AWS Prime and Mayfair Private Office and finalised earlier this week – looks likely to deliver yet more top-end stock for the area, which is undergoing a £3bn transformation.
Currently arranged as 36 units across six townhouses, Porchester Court dates back to the mid-1800s; the 30,000 sq ft, seven-storey block has some lovely original features, including a stucco façade with projecting Doric porches, panelled doors and corniced triplets.
The location was the big draw, however.
The former Whiteleys shopping centre next-door is being reimagined as 139 apartments and townhouses, 20 new shops and restaurants, a cinema, and the first Six Senses hotel and spa in Britain. The big-name team behind the project includes Finchatton and Foster + Partners.
